Airports
The airports nearest to our charter bases are Rock Sound (RSD) on the south end of Eleuthera or Georgetown (GGT) if you are starting from Great Exuma. However, there are there are three airports on the island of Eleuthera. All the airports are listed below:
- Rock Sound (RSD) Eleuthera: approx 20miles from charter base
- Governor's Harbor (GHB) Eleuthera: approx 50miles from charter base
- North Eleuthera (ELH) Eleuthera: approx 100miles from charter base
- Great Exuma (GGT) Great Exuma: approx 5miles from charter base
Suggested Airlines
It is convenient and less expensive to book your international itinerary direct into Nassau and then connect into Rock Sound or Georgetown on the smaller domestic airlines. There are frequent direct flights into Nassau from most major US and European airports. These flights can easily be booked through major travel websites such as Expedia.com, Orbitz.com, or Travelocity.
There are three to five daily connections on domestic airlines from Nassau to Rock Sound, Eleuthera (RSD) or to Georgetown (GGT), Great Exuma for ~$65pp one-way.
Pineapple Air is our preferred vendor. The connecting flights cannot be booked on major travel sites such as Expedia or Travelocity. The smaller airlines are not included. Go directly to the airline website to reserve your ticket. We highly recommend booking our domestic flight on a separate itinerary as we have seen flight cost inflation when this connection is rolled into your international ticket.
Note: reservations for the Bahamas domestic flights only open about 90dys in advance and you cannot book your ticket farther in advance.
Direct Flights from Florida
There several charter services that fly larger groups and smaller groups direct from FT Lauderdale or Miami direct to the boats. If you're interested in this option, request more information from your charter specialist. You can also arrange charter flights through Pineapple Air. the Commercial carriers are listed below:
- American Airlines flies direct Miami (MIA) to North Eleuthera (ELH) and Georgetown (GGT) daily.
- Continental flies direct Fort Lauderdale (FLL) daily to Georgetown (GGT), Governor's Harbor (GHB), North Eleuthera(ELH)
- Twin Air Calypso is the only commercial carrier that flies direct into Rock Sound (RSD). Flights originate Fort Lauderdale (FLL). This flight is very convenient, but the schedule is somewhat unreliable and not published in advance. The customs process is super easy in Rock Sound and the flights come in the afternoon early enough to arrive at the boat and finish orientation if you have purchased a sleep aboard. However, the direct flight costs more at approx $350 pp one-way. Twin air only takes reservations over the phone. Their number is 954-359-8266. Call for more information.
