How easy or hard is it to find ice and good water in the Exumas?
You can't buy good water or ice on every small cay, but there are several marinas and shops along the way. When you see water and ice being sold, I reccomeng getting it. Price and availability of ice varies. Water is easier to find than ice. The quality of the water in the Bahamas is inferior than most US city water supplies. I don't reccomend drinking the water. Buy Drinking water.
Does the boat come with paper goods? We used to provide all of our boats with some basic items like trash bags, a few rolls of paper towels and toilet paper. What comes with the boat or doesn't. Do we have to use marine grade toilet paper? (We used to provide this as it cut down on head clogs and emergency boat trips).
No toilet paper or paper towels are provided. You can use household toilet paper; hard to find the other in the Bahamas. Nothing consumable is provided…no no trash bags, sponges, dish soap, salt, pepper, etc.
What kind of barbeque grill comes with the boat? Is it gas or charcoal? If gas does it use the boat's propane system or does it use the little gas bottles? Where do we get the supplies to cook on the grill? I assume there is grill cleaning equipment and tongs on board? All the grills are propane; some use the small green camping bottles and some use house propane. Kitchen and grill utensils provided.
Does the boat have an exterior cooler to keep soda, bottled water and beer in? If so how big is it? If not do they know where we can borrow or rent one? You can rent large and medium sized coolers
Does the boat come with sheets, pillows, linens, beach towels, towels, hand towels, face cloths, and dish towels? If so how many and can we pay for extra? Some companies only provide a few items and you have to bring the rest. check out the What's Included link on our website
Do U.S. Dollars work in the Bahamas or will we need to change money to Bahamian currency? How about in out of the way shops? Do they take credit cards? US dollars are great. You can't change Bahamian back into dollars in the states and it is hard to do this over there as well. No credit cards most places.
Does the outboard motor tank come full of gas? Is it a two or four stroke motor and do they supply the oil if it's a two stroke? Comes with some gas; spare oil on board; must fill both before you leave
Can we find food, ice, supplies along the way in the Exumas? The resources near our charterbase are much better than you will find once you head into the Euxmas. I reccomend provisioning enough before you leave. We will cover this in the chart briefing, but very few places to buy food along the way. You will want to get most of what you need in Eleuthera at the marketplace there.
How will we stay in touch with the home base when in the Exumas? Is there a good way to Stay informed of weather? Are there Internet possibilities in the islands? VHF radio or Cell phone; You can get a Bahamas cell for around $100 dollars. We will buy the phoen back from you if it still works. They run on pre-paid minutes. We dont buy back the minutes.
Does the boat have Tupperware? What about cleaning supplies like dish soap, boat soap, glass cleaner? There is some Tupperware provided on most boats, but I suggest lots of Ziplocs.
