Bimini 7-Day Cruising Itinerary

Day 1: Orientation will begin around 12noon. Prepare to split up and have part of the group go for provisions while the skipper and mate stay for orientation. Departure should be 8-10hrs prior to sunrise. Plan to arrive on the banks in daylight so you can see where your going and the marks to safely approach.

Day 2: Clear customs and Immigration at Alice Town. Bimini Blue Water Marina is a nice place to stay the first night. Rent scooters and explore Alice Town. Eat dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 3: Sail to the north end of North Bimini. Anchor off the beach and carry a picnic lunch to a wonderful swimming beach. In the afternoon sail out to Bimini Road for a nice snorkel or shallow dive. Go back in near the beach and anchor out for the night.

Day 4: Snorkel around the SS Sapona wreck. The Sapona is a sunken concrete hulled 1940's freighter. Plan to sail on to Gun Cay for the evening's anchorage.

Day 5: Gun Cay is a beautiful, but uninhabited island that is home to a nice lighthouse and the beautiful beaches. FInd conch on the east side of the island. Sail to the south end of North Cat Cay and spend the night in the protected bay for anchorage. also a beautiful beach there.

Day 6: Sail to Tuna Alley and enjoy this world-class snorkel/dive site. Tuna Alley is a 50' to 80' dive with coral caverns and giant crevasses. This reef is home to many reef fish and smoe turtles. You may want to spend your a night in the Cat Cay Marina. There is fine dining there at the marina as well as a more casual dining room.

Day 7: Take it easy today...you'll be sailing all night. We reccomend you leave a couple hours before sunset so you still have good visibity. Sail on into the key largo area. Anchor off Rodriguez Key or pick up a mooring at Pennekamp Park.

Day 8: Rise early and head into the marina. Prepare the boat for check-in before 12noon.

Dont forget to throw out a line while you are sailing. It is not uncommon to catch a Dolphin, Tuna, Pompano, Mackerel, and Wahoo. Nothing better than Tuna Sashimi.
