Sailing Charters
Captain Jay Phillips has worked in just about every aspect of the yachting industry. He started his first Charter Boat, the "Rendezvous", in Ocean City Maryland when he was 21 years old. For three years Jay entertained thousands of guests on the backwaters and Ocean Front of Ocean City Maryland, Dewey Beach, Rehobeth, and Lewes Delaware.

In his early 20's, Phillips helped build a 65' Fiberglass Commercial Fishing Trawler. During slow winter months, he worked on commercial clamming and longline vessels or bartended/served in local Ocean City Restaurants.

After Ocean City MD, Jay moved to the quieter Eastern Shore of Virginia, where he opened a yacht refitting business on the seaside Harbor of Oyster. He rebuilt a 1964 Bay Built Fishing Vessel called "Kingfisher" and operated tours and fishing through the uninhabited Barrier Islands.

In Annapolis, Captain Phillips lived in Easport and was fortunate enough to learn from several of the best Yacht Racers in the industry. Racing J22's, J24's, Melges, Mumm 30's, International 14's, J105', J120's, Santa Cruz 70's, Frers 65's, J30's.......... Jay ran charter boats and head boats for Watermark Cruises, Northeast Wind Yacht Group, JWorld Sailing School, Chesapeake Sailing School, and taught sailing under the auspices of the ASA and US Sailing. He is currently certified to teach over 15 course levels of sailing.

One really fun job involved 2 years as private captain with an owner who purchased a 50' Shuttleworth Catamaran. The Shutleworth was a beautiful high performance catamaran. Phillips was fully involved in supervising a $1 million refit of the vessel.

In the British Virgin Islands, Captain Phillips started out working freelance with Sunsail, Moorings, BVI Yacht Charters, Horizon Yacht Charters, and others as a sailing instructor and yacht captain. Over a 10 year period Jay delivered more than 30 yachts back and forth from the East Coast to the Caribbean, accumulating over 50,000 offshore miles. For about one year, Phillips worked for the Sea Ray and Sunseeker Dealership in Virgin Gorda.

In 2000, Phillips started working for Quantum Sail Design Group as their BVI Sales Rep, and helped them set up a St. Thomas loft. Later, Phillips actually parted ways with Quantum and opened his own branch of North Sails in Road Town Tortola, directly behind The Moorings Charter Base.

Feeling drawn to be near his parents, Phillips moved to Fort Myers Florida. Starting with one 36' Sloop running from a local restaurant, his company, 360 Yachting has grown to take over is own private marina and service shop. In 2009, 360 Yachting is growing into 2 additional locations: Marathon and Eleuthera.

Over the last 20 years, Captain Phillips has accumulated over 350,000 miles of offshore sailing, 7500 of which have been singlehanded. He has captained sailing yachts up to 90' and 50 passengers; motoryachts inspected and uninspected up to 97' and 350 passenger; small ferry operations and tour boats in Florida, Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Chesapeake. He is a very capable mechanic, sailmaker, yacht designer, rigger, and shipwright.

Jay has held his USCG Masters License since 1990. (click here for Jay's Full Resume)
